Bill boss vines6/12/2023 ![]() ![]() ![]() He might also have surmised, perhaps, that when encountering someone dressed in what may have looked like national costume, and presumably being a veteran of numerous diplomatic functions featuring visiting foreign dignitaries from various Commonwealth nations, Lady Susan might well have mistaken Ms Fulani for one such individual, in which case asking where she was from would have been no more than a necessary politeness. He would also have known that being of an age (83), Lady Susan is rather hard of hearing, and therefore might have struggled in a very crowded room with lots of people talking loudly at each other, hence her asking Ms Fulani the same question over and over again, as elderly deaf people tend to do. He would have known that she is a regular worshipper at a church in Southwark where the congregation is 90 per cent black, and where Lady Susan is a much-loved member of the community, described by one (black) member as 'a lovely, beautiful lady'. As her godson, however, he would have known that was highly improbable. The Prince of Wales rarely puts a foot wrong, but his treatment of his godmother when this whole thing first blew up a few weeks ago was disappointing to say the least.īy all means express regret and concern that Ms Fulani had been offended by what Lady Susan said to her, and the manner in which she said it, but by issuing a statement saying 'racism has no place in our society' he effectively condemned her outright of that heinous crime. Short of paedophilia, there is no worse thing to be accused of than racism. Lucky for her she is too old to be on social media, because had she been I am certain she would have been just as roundly abused as Ms Fulani, if not more so.
