One of the teachers recognized it as breaking down racial barriers by making a joke out of differences. I went to a high school that was very racially diverse and we all made tons of racist jokes and things that were offensive, but everyone involved was laughing and trading fair blows. This does not prevent me however from making or laughing at a racist joke because of it's intent and nature.
